Ria fled Sarajevo, Bosnia in 1997 and resettled - by herself at the age of 20 - in the US. Ria has been an outspoken advocate for refugees through her work with the International Rescue Committee and on the Board of the Refugee Women's Network, the Women's Commission for Refugee Women and Children, and the Center for Balkan Development. Ria is currently completing a bachelor's degree at the University of Massachusetts.

Stephanie Sluka Brauer –Co-Founder, Board Treasurer

Stephanie is currently the Development Coordinator for Grassroots International and the lead consultant with ESBY Consulting, which helps emerging refugee and immigrant organizations build capacity and secure resources. Stephanie's international work was inspired by anthropology research in Kenya and nurtured by extensive travel and work with the International Rescue Committee and the Refugee Women's Network.
